Episode 8: Why You're Still Exhausted (Even When You're Doing Everything Right)
In 2018, Annie hit a wall. She was doing everything right - and she was the most exhausted she'd ever been.
She was getting up at 4:45 for CrossFit, homeschooling three kids, teaching yoga, tracking every macro, seeing doctors, trying every diet. Hair falling out. Wired at 2am. Dragging through days in a life that looked, from the outside, like it should feel good.
At some point she said the thing a lot of women eventually say: maybe this is just my new normal.
It wasn't. But finding the real answer took years. In this solo episode she shares what was actually going on, why everything she tried kept missing it, and the root cause reframe that finally changed things.
Show Notes
If you've been doing all the right things and still don't feel good - this episode is for you.
This week I'm solo, sharing a story I don't usually tell in full. The version from 2018 when I had genuinely tried everything: the naturopath, keto, vegan, cutting alcohol, adding iron through food, moving to Arizona thinking more sun might help. None of it worked. And I eventually accepted that maybe this was just how I was going to feel.
I was wrong. But it took years to figure out why.
The part nobody caught
What no doctor found - and no standard blood panel showed - was a genetic mutation affecting how my body stores iron. Not low iron in the typical sense. My body wasn't holding onto it regardless of what I ate or supplemented. Until I knew that, nothing I tried could actually touch the problem.
I was putting frosting on a cupcake. From the outside it looked okay. Inside I still felt like crap.
That's the thing about root causes. They're not always the obvious ones. They're not always what Instagram is telling you to fix. And until you know yours, the actual one, you can eat perfectly, work out consistently, do everything right, and still not feel good. Because you're solving the wrong problem.
What actually helps
The honest answer isn't another protocol. It's better questions. What is your body actually missing? What is your nervous system actually running on? What has been compounding underneath the surface for years while you kept adding more effort on top?
That last question is the one I come back to most with clients. Because the women who are most exhausted are almost always the ones who have been the most disciplined, the most consistent, the most committed to doing it right. They don't need more willpower. They need someone to look at the right thing.
What we cover in this episode:
Why doing everything right can still leave you depleted
The genetic mutation that standard bloodwork missed for years
What "tired and wired" actually means and why sleep wasn't fixing it
Why women chronically underfuel - and what it costs them
The belief vs. truth reframe that finally shifted things
How root causes compound over time when the real problem stays untouched
The free checklist and how to use it as a starting point
