Episode 17: The Symptom-Free Myth That's Keeping You Stuck in Perimenopause

You will never be 100% symptom-free in perimenopause.

I say that to my clients all the time, and it usually lands like a small gut punch. Somewhere along the way we started believing the goal was zero symptoms: no hot flashes, no sleepless nights, no mood swings, nothing. That was never realistic, and chasing it is exactly what keeps so many women stuck.

This is a solo episode, and it's one I needed to say out loud as much as anyone needed to hear it.

Show Notes

Back in 2018, my body started breaking down, and I went looking for anything that would make the symptoms disappear for good. What I've learned since then, and what I tell clients constantly, is that some symptoms are supposed to still be there. They're feedback, not proof something's wrong with you.

A sleepless night after weeks of good sleep doesn't mean you failed. It might mean life got in the way of something that was working, the stress you let back in, the food, the missed movement, or it might mean there's a piece you haven't found yet, like hormone testing or an evening wind-down routine. Either way, it's data, not a setback.

I talk about the itchy ear you've heard me mention before, the moods, the brain fog, and why what Brené Brown calls "the great awakening" is real, and also not something you have to go through without help.

The biggest shift: no doctor is tracking you once you leave their office. You go in, they hand you something, you leave, and follow-up is on you. That's why I built my strategy sessions the way I did, to help you start reading your own body instead of waiting for someone else to hand you the answer.

In this episode: why symptom-free isn't the goal in perimenopause, reading symptoms as feedback instead of failure, hormone testing and evening routines, becoming the CEO of your own health, the great awakening of perimenopause, when to get outside help.
